Crafted for a vibrant couple, this serene apartment in Bengaluru is a celebration of their passion for art, history and culture. Having previously worked together on the dweller’s secondary home within the same gated community of Tata Sherwood, Anna Rose and Anoop Bhat of Studio Mamama were able to design this 1,200 sq ft space with ease.

“Our design discussions flowed effortlessly, fuelled by shared memories and a deep understanding of their lifestyle. With Champa trees dotting the community and abundant greenery at every turn, the setting inspired us to echo this tranquillity within the home,”  say Anna Rose and Anoop Bhat.

Earthy Elegance

The rustic terracotta floor tiles and the soothing simplicity of lime plaster walls in the foyer set an earthy tone to the charming spaces that lie forward. As sunlight floods the living room, the space encourages conversation and connection. The design breaks away from the conventional TV-centric setup and instead features a reupholstered beloved sofa and custom-made pieces from Tusker Katha. Wooden rafters on the ceiling and bespoke lighting fixtures tie everything together with a touch of tradition.

Adjacent to the living area, the home office and study are designed for both productivity and contemplation. A vibrant teal hue on the walls and a sleek teak bench balance functionality with style. The puja ghar, seamlessly integrated into the storage, adds a serene touch. Custom block-printed blinds and ample storage make this space as efficient as it is beautiful.

Tones, Textures and Tales

Flowing seamlessly from the living room, the open dining area features a stunning table set by Tusker Katha. The textured wall continues here, adorned with a multifunctional wall unit that displays curios and serves as a pin-up board for daily affirmations.

Despite its compact size, the kitchen, executed by Nolte Kitchens, is a masterclass in efficiency. Black granite countertops, a playful printed backsplash and sleek cabinets create a sophisticated space. Every inch is cleverly utilised, making the kitchen both functional and stylish.

Both the master and guest bedrooms embrace earthy greens and warm wood tones. The master bedroom features a custom-crafted headboard, tropical wallpaper and a teak veneer wardrobe. Soft linen drapes complete the look. The guest bedroom, simpler in design, boasts a refurbished wardrobe with brass accents and cleverly integrated storage.

Tradition Revisited

Renovated with meticulous attention to detail, the bathrooms feature patterned tiles from Ceramique and warm wood tones around the vanity areas. Premium fittings in brushed bronze and nickel finishes weave luxury into the design narrative.

“In a world of extremes—either super minimalistic or vibrantly traditional—we found a middle path,” explain Anna Rose and Anoop Bhat. Designed to suit the taste of their clients, the MA009 apartment is an example of Studio Mamama’s user-centric design philosophy. Each piece of furniture, carefully restored for its charm, contributes to the home that’s as modern as it is rooted in tradition.
