Maximalism is often mistaken for excess. Sachin and Neha Gupta have spent decades proving otherwise. Through Beyond Designs, the New Delhi-based duo has built a practice where abundance is carefully composed, balancing art, antiques, craftsmanship and architecture. It is this sophisticated interpretation of maximalism that has earned the studio a place on the ELLE DECO International A-List.
Their featured project, a 25,000 sq ft family residence in New Delhi, exemplifies the studio’s ability to compose richly layered interiors without sacrificing cohesion. Designed for a family with an extensive collection of art, antiques and books, the home transforms personal possessions into the foundation of its architecture. Across two expansive floors, each room establishes its own identity while remaining connected through a consistent material palette and attention to detail.
“At a time when quick turnarounds and pre-packaged aesthetics reign supreme, this house is a powerful instance of what happens when design has the luxury of time”
Mrudul Pathak Kundu, Editor-in-Chief, ELLE DECOR India
