Design is half reality, half mythmaking. And there is little room for objectivity in the latter. It is an endless field of experimentation, much like what you would witness at Gazal Gupta’s store in New Delhi, designed by Renesa Architecture Design Interiors. Under the leopard-printed ceiling, horses with wild manes gallop into view like runaway chess pieces. Positioned between Ionic capitals and the pointed archivolts, Gazal’s sartorialist creations hold their own across the 7,500 sq ft space. Subsumed in a theatrical encounter, it is akin to a stage set where the proportions are rendered ever so whimsical. Through a series of interconnected chambers, each characterised by different tones and lighting, the space allows every couture collection its own world.
