How does one impress a client who has made a career out of selling homes? Crafting a lavish abode with a home theatre, spa room and then some was the obvious answer for Rashi Bothra and Ruchi Gehani, co-founders of Azure Interiors. Located in an upscale neighbourhood in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, the sprawling 24,000 sq ft bungalow boasts of a double height living space, lounge room, formal drawing room, six bedrooms, a gym room, home office and a garden area. “The client is in real estate and they wanted the residence to exude luxury vibes,” reveal the designers.

While the home has a consistent look overall, an interplay of materials and geometric shapes emerges creating a subtle symmetry. “The design philosophy was to use exclusive and luxurious furniture pieces throughout the house and keep the overall design very plush and elegant to complement the pieces,” the designers elaborate on the defining elements of the space that belongs to a newly married couple.

Channelling modern luxury, the home features plush Italian furniture, stones and makes generous use of Italian marble which stands out in juxtaposition with its neutral colour palette—subdued shades of grey.

Going into the living room, panels of fluted metal sourced exclusively for the project serve as a backdrop for a large wine coloured, leather and velvet sofa. The area is separated with fluted glass and metal panels to create a division. A centre table flanked by the several smaller tables complete the space tied together with wooden flooring.

The lounge area with a double height ceiling has veneer and Italian marble panelling with metal details. Grey sofas with leather fluting complement the statuario marble centre table decked with tasteful decor pieces.

Geometric shapes adorn the home in unique ways from statement decor details along the stairway to the living areas, “The luxury trend we’ve used at multiple places is different types of use of Italian stones. The staircase wall has an intricate stone panel of the height of 20’. We have used Italian marble in a geometric pattern in the waiting area of the home office. Also, Italian marble has been used in different levels of dining walls,” explain Bothra and Gehani

In the dining room, different sizes of marble strips collide with veneer panelling and artwork that adds character to the area. Here, marble doubles up as a partition to conceal a recessed washbasin alongside the crockery unit. Meanwhile, veneer panelling is strategically placed to camouflage doors across the home.

Bold and vibrant, the luxurious master bedroom designed for the couple is steeped in a darker theme with black Portoro marble flooring and brown walnut veneer walls. A customised abstract carpet makes a perky addition to the grey furniture while lights from Sans Souci make for a stunning bedside accent.

A muted colour palette dominates the home, for the most part, but bright hues show up in unexpected places like mosaics on the upper half of the wall in the striking powder room. To offset the pops of colour, the lower half of the room and its floors are given a dark marbled finish while the vanity unit is equipped with brass hardware to complete the look.

The washroom is done with Italian cladding with an angular grooves pattern on the shower and basin wall with a bespoke metal-rimmed mirror equipped with in-built lights. Separating the wet and dry areas is, no points for guessinga marble wall partition.

“The entire space exudes a sense of glamour and sophistication,” conclude the designers, aptly defining the vibe captured by the home’s design.
