By the time you have made your way through Casa sul Lago — a villa by Baxter on the shores of Lake Como in Lombardy it’s easy to forget that the entire villa gets torn up and reworked from scratch every spring, much to the dismay of anyone who fell in love with last year’s version. In 2026, Baxter has once again reconstructed the 20th-century villa from within, retaining its original structure but introducing three entirely new phases through its floors.
Moving from a terracotta-flecked ground level to a dusty blue first floor to a blush retreat tucked under the attic roof, the villa builds an entirely new mood on each level. It then spills out into a guest house, a greenhouse and a poolside that stretches towards the water.
