It’s vintage! 

Welcome to a dreamy mint oasis, brought to life by Tejal Mathur Design. The space hinges between the old and the new, with a sculptural grey bed and ivory-hued accents. With bespoke furniture and natural antique finishes, this stylish sanctuary is playful yet timeless. And that stunning tartan plaid wallpaper behind the bed? “During initial discussions with the clients, it became clear that our design aspirations aligned with their desire for a modern, clean and vibrant space,” state Anna Rose and Anoop Bhat, co-founding partners at mamama. The space in question is a minimalist family apartment nestling in Mumbai. The son’s bedroom adheres to the brief faithfully, the white walls devoid of any excessive adornments sans a poster and a few framed artworks. Accent furniture pieces in vibrant colours decorate the space. The ultramarine blue headboard moonlights as a floating ledge suitable for propping up curios, with ombre drapes lining the windows. Mirrors affixed to the wardrobe hide the storage space in plain sight.

Duochrome stripes

Scallop-like edges climb up the walls in a room within a Pune home by Ketaki Poonawala Designs. These whimsical arches protrude from the wall, sharing halves with a wallpaper depicting bursts of flora and fauna. Curving edges are a common design leitmotif within the space — a playful nod to the space’s strong commitment to fun. The colour palette of blues and white aligns with the home’s overarching design language, aptly named Vaayu. True to its name, the sight of this room comes as a breath of fresh air indeed.
