Principal Designer of her eponymous studio, Richa Bahl crafts a Sunset home in the residential area of Pali Hill, Mumbai. Over a period of three months, the creative designed the home from scratch using modern elements that matched the clientβs brief. The living room is bathed in white tones with muted furniture and is attached to the salmon coloured lounge and dining area. βI love designing homes which look lived in and have character of their own. I had the most fun designing the living room since itβs the heart of the largest space in the with an open study, low seating ledge, a bar and ample seating. Itβs where most of oneβs time is spent,β says Bahl. The culinary stop of this home features minimal white tiles and green shuttersβa theme that is also seen in the sonβs bedroom. With an idea for the living roomβs features to connect to the bedrooms, the base palette remains muted throughout. Use of grey furniture is seen against salmon pinkish walls in most areas of the home. The material palette boasts of wood, vintage furniture, eclectic art, cosy seating, abundant greens and pops of colour to add drama. With contrasts as her design specialty, Bahl made use of vintage and modern elements for this home that bring dynamism to the space. βInside a room, I need to feel the pulse of the client and a vibe of the design sense. Inside the room, I want to feel the drama. When I design a space it’s important that by the end thereβs an emotion felt when one enters it,β concludes Bahl.
