Every region of India contributes a unique artistic flair, ensuring a kaleidoscope of visual delights. Yet, for individuals with visual impairments, the pathway to embrace and understand extraordinary artworks unfolds solely through alternative senses – touch, sound and sometimes scent. In their world, the visual allure of art and heritage remains a mystery.

To accelerate the engagement of this community and make art accessible to them, St+art India Foundation in collaboration with Asian Paints aims at transforming the Rajasthan Netraheen Kalyan Sangh school in Jaipur, through Project Sparsh.

Focused on inclusivity, it endeavours to touch the hearts and nurture the minds of visually impaired students through art.

Phase 1 of Project Sparsh, is a 3-day Inclusive Art workshop where students explore different Asian Paints tools, tactile swatches and textured lead free paints by Royale Play. By learning 3D texturing techniques, they create art out of it.

“The initiative aims to bring joy and inspiration to visually impaired students through touch and feel. We redefined art and added another dimension to it with textured paints to create murals through tactile art” says Amit Syngle, CEO & MD, Asian Paints.

The Makeover In Phase 2, the project transforms the school’s spaces, converting the prayer hall into a vibrant art gallery. It beautifully encapsulates elements of Rajasthan through tactile wall art and motivational quotes written in Braille.

The students experience art through ‘Sparsh’ which means touch. In pursuit of the mission Art For All, the school’s facade showcases a mural inspired by Braille and Bandhej, featuring elephants, camels, earthen pots, puppets, cactus etc.

Through this initiative, art becomes a multi-sensory experience for the students, which fosters their visual perceptions and helps them explore their creative potential.
