A sheet of plywood gives nothing away. Run a hand across it and it looks exactly like every other board on the shelf. Whatever is wrong with it, if anything is, stays hidden until years later, when a wardrobe swells in the monsoon or a kitchen shutter comes apart at the hinge. Buyers are left trusting a label, and every label makes the same promise, until the promise means almost nothing. CenturyPly’s response, announced in Kolkata on 3 August 2026, is Total Cover, described as India’s first comprehensive warranty on plywood: a ten-year commitment on its Club Prime and Architect Ply ranges that reimburses the full furniture cost tied to a confirmed defect, plywood, laminates or veneers, adhesives, labour and transportation among them. The idea took root two and a half years ago, when CenturyPly pulled every customer complaint nationwide into one system and its leadership began reading them, case by case. The pattern had little to do with plywood itself: laminates redone, labourers called back twice, entire rooms pulled apart to fix what should never have failed. The company spent the following two years making such cases right, building the technical and service infrastructure a promise this size would demand, before putting Total Cover into the world.
Homeowners can register online within 90 days of purchase for a digital certificate, then claim through the warranty portal or toll-free support, each case backed by technical inspection. After ten years, standard warranties resume: lifetime cover on Architect Ply, the remaining 20-year term on Club Prime. The commitment reaches consumers nationwide through a campaign fronted by Aamir Khan, “Poore Furniture Ka Full Cost Wapas,” running across television, digital, print and outdoor. Elaborating on the process behind the decision, Keshav Bhajanka, executive director of CenturyPly, says, “Two and a half years of studying customer experiences taught us something uncomfortable: today’s consumer doesn’t know whom to believe. It is an assurance, backed by 40 years of manufacturing excellence.” Fellow executive director Nikita Bansal puts it more starkly: “The plywood was never the real cost. The rebuilding was.” Founded in 1986 by Sajjan Bhajanka and Sanjay Agarwal, CenturyPly today ranks among India’s leading wood panel manufacturers, with facilities spanning seven cities nationwide. When asked how this four decade old company appeals to young consumers, Nikita replies, “When it is your first home, you are extremely involved. It makes sense for new homeowners to invest in CenturyPly’s Club Prime and Architect Ply because they can trust the quality.”
