A Jaipur homestay drawn in black and white

Lalluji Luxe: In Jaipur, stay inside a 2D sketchbook

BY

Where bungalows sit peacefully behind cascades of bougainvillea, a Jaipur homestay in the leafy pocket of C-Scheme does not attempt to compete with the city’s riot of colours. Inspired by a whimsical, black-and-white, 2D sketchbook aesthetic, the stay called Lalluji Luxe feels as though it is lifted from the pages of an artist’s notebook. In a city celebrated for its intricate carvings, tones and patterns, Lalluji Luxe instead leans into crisp outlines and bold graphic surfaces that feel deliberately pared back.

Sketchy deportment

Lalluji Luxe unfolds across multiple one, two and three BHK, each conceived as an extension of your Jaipur sojourn, except that stepping indoors feels like entering a brand new colouring book brought vividly to life. Whimsical but never flippant, the suites embrace a monochromatic reading of the city, with hand-painted walls drawing from pichwai iconography and Rajasthani miniature fresco techniques, reinterpreted through a graphic, black-and-white lens. Reading nooks and balconies fill the spaces with soft shafts of daylight, particularly during the golden hour, when the interplay of light and line lends the interiors a surreal quality. Those who wish to spend their time in the city working from home can also find desks within their suites. Thoughtful comforts complete the experience: warm, home-cooked Rajasthani meals served in-suite, a fully-equipped kitchenette and Alexa-enabled controls that let you adjust lighting, fans, curtains, sheers and entertainment with effortless ease. This proves that even a sketch can be smartly finished.

For the sake of dilly-dallying

Set in C-Scheme, one of Jaipur’s most lively neighbourhoods, Lalluji Luxe strikes a happy balance between sightseeing and indulgence, with landmark attractions and buzzy eateries just a stone’s throw away. Hawa Mahal, City Palace and Jantar Mantar lie within a 15-minute radius, while a slightly longer wander brings Jal Mahal, Birla Mandir and the ramparts of Nahargarh Fort into view. For those inclined to shop between sightseeing breaks, Johari Bazar and Bapu Bazar deliver the full Jaipur experience, from chand baaliyaan to embroidered mojaris, with lanes lined by long-standing purveyors and irresistible detours at every turn.
