Vacation state of mind

Tatva Studios in Goa designs a vacation home to host the best soirees

BY

For years, Goa has been India’s most sought-after vacation destination. And so, for a family that throws the best soirees and knows how to vacation, this home was a no-brainer. This massive 4,500 sq ft vacation den by Tatva Studios was shaped with careful consideration for the entire family including their furry four legged friend. With bespoke rugs from Varanasi, artisanal furniture from Bombay and lighting from Gujarat, this Goan home brings the best of India to all those who dwell here.

“Every corner houses its artworks and custom furniture. Attention to every detail and customisation convinces us about the love and efforts poured in to make this space truly one of a kind,” say principal designers and partners, Shraddha Nayak and Sarvesh Nayak of Tatva Studios. With a base of beige all over the ground floor and grey taking precedence over the first storey, the home adorns neutrals with custom enchanting elements.

A tree indoors?

At the epicentre of the living space, is a 15 ft tree all the way from Delhi. The living space features ample, cosy seating arranged around a uniquely designed wooden and black centre table, all framed by eclectic artwork. The home has it all — art, greenery and comfort. As the designers put it, the kitchen and dining area are set against a striking black backdrop. With sophisticated countertops and a sleek black dining table, every meal here is designed to be an experience.

Guests are treated with the same care as family which is why the ground-floor guest room exudes refined warmth. A modern-retro aesthetic, a statement headboard, and a window that opens out to the pool and lush greenery make it a truly inviting retreat.

Climbing onto the first floor, the space extends into a master bedroom with a gorgeous four poster bed, a sleek leather bench and a plush swing perfect for an afternoon of light reading. The kids’ bedroom, on the other hand is eclectic, brought to life with playful pops of colour. A green rug anchors the space, while the furnishings strike a balance between neutral beige tones and vibrant accents.

The general palette of the home reads of neutrals, vivid artworks and subtle inklings of colour. Arguably the most heartwarming touch? The dweller’s delightful attempt to make the home just as cosy and inviting for their four-legged family member. Shraddha elaborates, “The finishes and paints are pet-friendly. The fabrics are natural and dyed using eco-friendly colours. The rugs, too, are pet-safe. Edges on all items are rounded, and locks are fitted in a way that prevents doors from opening too easily.””
