Next stop: Turkish Riviera

Soak in the views of the Aegean Sea or luxuriate in true Mediterranean style at Mandarin Oriental Bodrum

BY

Is White Lotus giving you major travel FOMO? We hear you. Endless horizons, salt air of the sea, villas where you luxuriate in the Mediterranean on the Turkish Riviera. While that sounds too good to be true, the Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum offers all that and more. Housing 99 villas and 102 exclusive residences planned by Wimberly Allison Tong and Goo (WATG) and designed by ACPV Architects, the resort presents itself as a holiday destination you’d never want to leave. Abutting the property is the Aegean Sea which gets its name from mythical Greek King Aegeus featuring in numerous tales like that of Theseus (his son) who slew the Minotaur. Like its storied neighbour, MO Bodrum too revels in a near fantastical landscape.

Hillside holiday

Keeping the panoramic sightlines as the centre-piece of the resort, WATG oriented the rooms and the amenities to the horizon. Walk around the nearly 50-acre hillside property along the stretch aptly called Cennet Koyu (“Paradise Bay”), and you’ll discover how the hotel, spa and residential areas are nestled in the topography. The apartments are arranged in a ‘hill village’ at the head of the site, with the larger, more luxurious villa units positioned closer to the coast. The hotel and spa are located near a private beach and will feature their own waterside check-in and reception facilities. Perched on a bluff, the resort offers stunning views of the bay. The hotel units are distributed between villas and single-loaded buildings. The rooms are modern and well-appointed, with Turkish rugs and large windows that provide sea views. Some suites include private gardens and infinity pools overlooking the Aegean. Guests can also enjoy the view from the sundeck, terrace or balcony. Spoilt with choice!

The great outdoors

Mandarin Oriental Bodrum also features two private beaches with soft sand and a three-level spa offering traditional Turkish bath treatments. You can take your pick from a variety of activities including scuba diving, water sports, sailing, fishing and Turkish gulet tours. Or choose to sunbathe without a care in the world. Throughout the space, your relationship to nature is prioritised, with expansive greenways running along key view corridors, providing frontage for both residential and hotel units. Each unit is set back into the landscape to ensure privacy, views and garden space. Strategic points within the natural landscape house clubs, each offering expansive open views.

Sipping by the Aegean Sea

Sofra is the place to be for breakfast. The Turkish spread features freshly baked bread, pastries, egg dishes, housemade yogurt, cheeses and fresh fruit, to name a few. With indoor and outdoor seating and tables that can be put together for larger groups, the venue has something for everyone. Sip on a cocktail at Lucca by the Sea. It’s a relaxing spot to enjoy Mediterranean small plates. Taste modern, high-end Cantonese cuisine at Hakkasan. This restaurant, like most of the other places to eat and drink at the resort, doesn’t just turn out scrumptious eats, but a wonderful view of the Aegean Sea as well.
