Italian furniture company Moroso unveiled a number of collections that were developed in collaboration with noted designers such as Patricia Urquiola, Daniel Libeskind, Alfredo Haberli, Doshi Levien, Tord Boontje, Front, Edward van Vliet, Scholten & Baijings and Mermelada at this year’s Salone del Mobile, Milan. The brand also unveiled a furniture line using live music and alternative rock scene influences that was realised by the creative team of Diesel Living.

Some of our favourite collaborations included Daniel Libeskind’s Gemma seater that’s reminiscent of gems and rocks, London based Tord Boontje’s dreamcatcher inspired chair called Senegal-O, designer duo Doshi Levien’s seating series Armada and the Triclinium sofa by Front.

Speaking on the Triclinium sofa, Creative Director Patrizia Moroso said, “Tricliniums were originally sofas used by the old Roman Empire, where the Romans would use it for everything from lounging to sleeping and eating. In comparison, it was what the charpoy was to India.”

Moroso also inaugurated the “Spring to Mind” exhibition to commemorate Israeli designer Ron Arad’s 25 year creative partnership with the brand. The artist turned designer’s work was displayed in chronological order, where every piece of furniture was further highlighted with a spotlight. The exhibit emphasised on the importance of the Spring collection launched in 1997 for both, the brand and the designer. Their association goes as far as the Statale di Milano, where Interni Open Borders hosted a photographic exhibition organised by architect Ester Pirotta titled “Ron Tom Tom” featuring 20 life-sized photos of Ron Arad’s work by acclaimed photographer Tom Vack.
