At Paras Quartier, The Innerside Studio brings together natural materials, custom furniture and tailored detailing

A polished interior can make good design look deceptively easy. The furniture sits just so, the materials speak to one another and nothing appears to be competing for attention. But getting a space to this point involves plenty of decisions: what stays, what goes, what needs refining and when enough is, in fact, enough. For Manav Yadav and Aanchal Joshi of The Innerside Studio, that editing process is central to how they design.

Husband and wife in life, creative partners in practice, the duo are now a decade into building a studio around that instinct for editing. “We focus on the right quantum of work rather than just anything that comes our way,” explain Manav and Aanchal. Their shared understanding has shaped a studio built around fewer projects, greater involvement and an insistence on seeing every detail through.

At Paras Quartier in Gurugram, this considered approach takes shape through a restrained palette of natural materials and bespoke detailing. “The design prioritises openness, warmth and visual continuity, allowing architecture and craftsmanship to define the character of each space,” says the duo. Rich timber, natural stone and textured surfaces bring warmth and depth to the interiors, while carefully layered lighting adds to the atmosphere. Custom-designed furniture and tailored joinery were developed specifically for the home, allowing the interiors to respond to the client’s lifestyle while maintaining a cohesive design language.

There’s also a working philosophy behind how the studio gets there. Efficiency, for them, isn’t about speed for its own sake; it’s about clarity. The aim is a streamlined process with greater clarity and fewer unnecessary detours. “Less noise, more precision,” is how the studio describes it, on-site and off-site. What doesn’t show up in the final photographs is the work behind every finished room. Behind each finished room are conversations, iterations and decisions that may not be immediately visible in the completed space. As Manav and Aanchal enter their next decade of practice, their focus remains on creating interiors where proportion, materiality and detail are carefully considered.
