Every home has a personality. While some homes are doused in tactility and sculptures, others fall under the category of a home that’s functional, tastefully. For architects designing bespoke homes like this one, appliances are no longer meant to be seen; they are meant to belong. And this is where Liebherr’s Fully Integrated Refrigerator Range has become a defining choice. Indian homes are moving towards mindful design, and this shift is rather loudly apparent in the new-age kitchens we see around us. Integrated appliances, especially built-in refrigerators, form the heart of luxury kitchen planning.
A 4,200 sq ft home in Mumbai, dubbed Urban Thicket, is inspired by the idea of “living within the woods inside a city.” The kitchen opens into the dining area, making visual continuity critical. To preserve the rustic, art-led narrative, the architects designed a textured panelled backdrop behind which the built-in full fridge with Biofresh feature and the built-in full freezer with Auto Icemaker were immaculately integrated, ensuring the appliance never disrupts the mood of the space. According to the architects, Liebherr’s FI range allows refrigeration to function as part of the interior architecture rather than a standalone object. Designer Mihir Kotak from the design and architecture firm 4th Dimension explains, “With Liebherr, the refrigerator stops looking like an appliance and starts behaving like part of the interior language.”
