There are luxury stores, and then there are cultural houses — spaces that quietly redefine how a country experiences beauty, craftsmanship and the art of living. Mérci Dehradun belongs unmistakably to the latter.
Founded in 2016 in the picturesque Dehradun by Ms. Kahini Batta Aurora, Mérci began with a vision that was both ambitious and deeply personal: to create India’s first true multi-brand luxury destination dedicated to home, table, crystal, décor and refined living. At a time when luxury retail in India was still largely dominated by mono-brand boutiques and department store counters, Mérci introduced something far rarer. In this carefully curated universe, the world’s finest maisons could coexist under one roof with coherence, taste, authenticity and impeccable taste.

The journey began at IDA, Dehradun, with iconic European names such as Rosenthal and Versace Home, setting the tone for what would become one of India’s most discerning luxury retail stories. By 2017, the Maison steadily expanded its repertoire, introducing celebrated European heritage houses including Vista Alegre and Bordallo Pinheiro, Porcel, ZwieselGlas and La Rochere as brands, bringing contemporary European porcelain and precision glassmaking into Indian homes. In August 2020, Mérci became an exclusive retailer — launching some of the world’s most storied names in luxury tableware and crystal: Wedgwood, Waterford, Royal Doulton and Royal Albert. It marked a pivotal shift — positioning Mérci as a serious force within India’s luxury distribution landscape.

In 2021, Mérci opened its second store on Rajpur Road in Dehradun and expanded beyond tabletop and crystal into fashion, lifestyle, artistic expression and other contemporary design voices that complemented the maison’s evolving identity. The year 2022 saw the launch of its digital platform, transforming Mérci from a regional boutique into a national luxury destination accessible across India. By 2023, Mérci had strengthened its European design portfolio, becoming the distributor for Sabre Paris in India and launching the Sabre Paris India website, while also introducing brands like Polspotten and Cristallerie de Montbronn and Sarita Handa to Dehradun. Its clientele had grown to include some of India’s most prominent business families, cultural figures and tastemakers.

The Maison’s most defining chapter, however, arrived in 2024 with its opening at The Chanakya in New Delhi- India’s most rarefied luxury retail destination and home to the country’s only Chanel boutique. Occupying a 3,000-sqft flagship, Mérci became the mall’s first dedicated luxury home ware destination. Surrounded by some of the most revered names in luxury — Baccarat, L’Objet, Lladró, Hermès, Saint Laurent, Assouline and Tiffany & Co. The store established itself as a destination for collectors and connoisseurs seeking exceptional craftsmanship and enduring design.

Mérci launched Ginori 1735 in India in September 2024 and established its Delhi boutique as a destination for luxury living, introducing an exclusive portfolio of renowned international brands, including Bernardaud, Wedgwood, Waterford, Artel, Jonathan Adler, Mathieu Lustrerie, ZwieselGlas, Ester & Erik, Royal Albert, Royal Doulton, BordalloPinheiro, Pasotti and others. Today, Mérci represents an exceptional collection of the world’s leading decorative arts houses, including Ginori 1735, Bernardaud, Christofle, Moser, Jonathan Adler, Pinto Paris, Henry Dean, Zalto, Serax, Hering Berlin, Leblon Delienne, Paula Paronetto, Costa Nova and more.
From a thoughtfully set table to crystal catching the evening light, Mérci has helped transform luxury from an object of aspiration into a way of living. From Dehradun to New Delhi, and with future expansion on the horizon, it continues to redefine what a luxury Maison can be: not merely a retailer, but a custodian of culture, craftsmanship and enduring taste.
