A salon sculpted in glass bricks

Away from predictable layouts, Treelight Design revives a sensorial self-care experience

When was the last time a salon made you pause? In the rhythm of everyday life, routines can begin to feel mundane. And that’s when we end up seeking moments of change, details that ignite curiosity. In a city as fast-paced as Bengaluru, Peaches brings something unfamiliar, reimagining a salon as an immersive experience rather than just a place for grooming. Designed by Amitha Madan, Principal Architect of Treelight Design, the meticulously planned salon covers 1,250 sq ft area. Its visual statement? textured glass bricks and the light they filter softly.

Arranged in repeating geometric forms, the glass bricks refract light in shifting patterns and reflections, shaping the mood of the space throughout the day. From the beginning, the focus was on creating a space that balances beauty and function, creating an ambient atmosphere that feels calm and composed to the visitors. Many places can change your hair, but only a few can change how you feel when you leave.

Through the looking glass

The floor plan of Peaches is thoughtfully organised to ensure smooth movement across different zones. The layout is divided into three primary sections for women, men and facials, arranged around a central circulation path that connects the entire space seamlessly.

A muted palette of beige and other softer colours defines the facade of the salon. A nuanced tone-on-tone harmony defines the surface palette. Beige fluted marble cladding on the columns, paired with seamless tonal continuity between floors and ceilings adds dimension to the space. Curved glass partitions and glass chandeliers across all zones define individual zones without disrupting the openness of the layout. “The play of light through textured glass bricks became a key thematic exploration, symbolizing transformation and reflection” says Amitha. The overall environment creates a balance between practicality and aesthetics.

Each section is designed with its own identity. The men’s section is designed to feel intimate and understated. Bespoke vintage salon chairs frame the space alongside glazed ceramic sculptural artworks, which incorporate handcrafted artisanal elements. In contrast, the women’s section moves away from the conventional linear salon layout. The triangular haircut stations finished in lit onyx, structure the spatial flow which feels dynamic and visually interesting. Throughout the salon lighting, material transitions and proportions are considered with precision, lending the space a sense of effortless refinement and functionality.

Vision in form

Peaches redefines what a salon can be. It emerges as a distinctive expression of creativity and intent which brings an imaginative concept to life. What makes it particularly compelling is the way movement has been considered within the space. The layout encourages a natural flow, guiding visitors seamlessly from one zone to another without abrupt transitions. The space proves that beauty environments do not have to be generic or purely functional, they can be refined and inventive in their own way.
