Inspired by Dune, perfected in India

Haruma’s Inception Collection redefines modern furniture with brutalist elegance

BY

In a world where design is constantly pushing boundaries Haruma, a luxury furniture brand from Ahmedabad has created something truly captivating with its latest offering — the Inception Collection. Inspired by the raw, unyielding forms of brutalist architecture and the futuristic essence of the Dune universe, this collection isn’t just about furniture — it’s about making a statement.

Designed by Ramesh Lohar and Bindi Shah of R+R Architects, the Inception Collection is a masterclass in contrasts. Bold lines meet raw textures and architectural precision transforms everyday pieces into functional art. “The idea was to create futuristic, functional pieces while retaining cultural and ethnic elements and colours. Each piece exemplifies minimalist design where structure meets simplicity creating a powerful spatial presence,” explains Parth Patel, Founder of Haruma.

Let’s talk about the showstoppers. The Dark Horse Light draws inspiration from the iconic ornithopter in Frank Herbert’s Dune. With flexible ball joints and a brutalist material palette — think solid wood, carved marble and brass — it captures a sense of mechanical sophistication and strength. Then there’s the Sand Dune Chair redefining dining comfort with its sleek design and unique blend of materials while the Warden Armchair plays with layered geometry and modern comfort embracing brutalist aesthetics.

Every material is chosen with a purpose. From the richness of the red Levante marble to the warmth of Ashwood and travertine, each element reflects Haruma’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

Behind it all are industry veterans Mahesh Patel and Parth Patel. With over two decades of furniture manufacturing expertise, Mahesh ensures production precision and quality assurance while Parth infuses each piece with contemporary flair and panache.

The Inception Collection goes beyond mere furniture — it’s a conversation starter.
