The popularity of glass as a medium is evident, incorporated within a multitude of spaces since time immemorial. It is a material synonymous with simplicity, transparent in nature and devoid of colour. Yet, it can be used and further accentuated in a multitude of ways — be it stained glass, ceiling designs, partitions, or several more. Tesor Designs is a leading interior design firm based in Bengaluru. Founders Supriya Suriyanarayanan and Rajesh Kuldu take us through their glasscapades and how they have used “a common element like glass in uncommon ways.”

While designing this particular space, they had one idea in mind— how to comprehensively utilise glass across multiple kinds of spaces throughout the project. In the master bedroom stands a deep blue night stand, imbuing the space with  grandeur. The faux fireplace also makes use of stained glass, showcasing creativity and imagination. They’ve used lacquered glass from the Saint Gobain collection for the slightest hint of colour— resulting in a look that exudes understated luxury.

Windows occupy substantial visual space in any bedroom. The experimentative designers utilised glass with a textured surface instead of a smooth finishing to infuse the space with character. A walk-in closet crafted with tinted and lacquered glasses emerges as one walks away from the bedroom. This makes for the perfect in-between space, where homeowners can display their collectibles, utilising the safe space for storage simultaneously.

As one moves into the bathroom, a frosted glass  surface innovatively being utilised as a false ceiling draws appreciative eyes upward. Closed spaces such as bathrooms can often end up feeling claustrophobic. The utilisation of frosted glass characterised by plant-inspired motifs  within the space lends it visual allure, while simultaneously making it appear more expansive.

What makes glass an attractive option is that it is a versatile addition capable of blending in with other elements, pulling them all together to form one cohesive look. This is primarily why the founders chose to use glass as a primary element in this project — innovatively utilised to enhance the overall look of the space.
