This 6,000 sq ft duplex abode amalgamates aesthetics, functionality, minimalism as well as art. New Delhi based Priyanka Khanna and Rudraksha Charan of 42MM Architecture present a blend of luxury motifs and soothing colours in this residence. “The owners dreamt of a spacious and naturally lit apartment that would cater to their needs and personalities. So, we created a modern and minimalist design that balances beauty and functionality,” says Charan.

It was clear that the focal point of the home was to be the magnificent view of the golf course. The architecture plans were tweaked such that the staircase in the central lobby would face the glass facade for the view. Indeed, the layout of this two storeyed abode charts clearly defined functional sections.

The lower floor comprises informal areas such as the living, dining and drawing rooms as well as a kid’s play area and a kitchen that opens out to a double heighted decked terrace. The private chambers on the upper level include a family lounge and four bedrooms, connected by a double heighted foyer.

The whole apartment is decked with iconic art that brings warmth in the household. A stunning seven-metre light sculptural work by Artemide is suspended over a shell sculpture by Vibhor Sogani at the foyer. Meanwhile, the living room has a ‘postmodernist hangover’ look, complete with a sleek chaise from B&B Italia. Chlorophyllia by Artemide is the piece de resistance in the drawing room.

The kid’s playroom is a stark contrast from the rest of the home. Muted purple and yellow are paired with strong geometric shapes to create an unstructured environment for the children. On the other hand, the bedrooms upstairs use wooden flooring, stone tiled walls and subtle wood panel detailing. The terrace is designed such that they seem more like extensions of the interior spaces.

The colour palette is largely composed of neutrals grey, black and white tied together with the use of wood. The pop in the house is brought by the tapestry, upholstery, and of course, the artworks. Each piece of furniture and furnishing is carefully curated to reflect the family’s choices. A conscious use of plants is another recurring feature, which altogether results in a captivating dwelling created by 42MM Architecture.
