Only seen on screens or heard about in stories, mythologies and rituals have adapted to a new storyline everytime. Merging the memories of cultural myths with the intangible beauty of light, collektklove by designers Prateek Jain and Gautam Seth of Klove Studio has found its way to The Dhan Mill compound in New Delhi with its first flagship store.

With an artisanal range of collectables and glassware, collektklove was unveiled to serve as a bridge between traditionality and modernity. The creative duo has been creating unconventional and groundbreaking pieces for years and their latest feat is the launch of collektklove’s flagship store, with the architecture and interior design conceptualised by Gautam and Prateek themselves bringing a personalised and singular sense of art inside the space, alongside the help of architect Shwetank Barthwal Design Atelier.

Sprawling 4,000 sq ft, the store reflects a sense of Japanese minimalism aligned seamlessly with symmetry. At the entrance, one is greeted by an orange-hued wall, embossed with the logo of collektklove — Garuda, the God of strength, vigilance and prosperity, reimagined by Prateek and Gautam.

Designed like a modern barn with thatched ceilings and a lime wash finish, the store wraps itself in a neutral colour palette, allowing patrons to be drawn in to the sculptures and lights displayed at the 25-foot-long steps on either side. Depicting a swarm of fireflies and taking centre stage is the sculptural tree light that acts as a design element and also creates an inviting and comfortable atmosphere.

The store exhibits a story of Indian craftsmanship, along with the rich tradition of glass artistry while infusing modern design sensibilities. Prateek shares, “Our inspiration comes from indigenous cultures and nature. Nature is as reverential as culture for indigenous people.” To which, Gautam talks about the overarching architecture, “Dhan Mill allowed us to rebuild the space into a barn. We wanted to play with the space. The idea of using a large space to showcase small objects around it emanates a sense of refined luxury. We wanted to set the brand in a more natural environment.”
