Is there such a thing as too much beige? This home would say not (and we fully agree!). Swathed in neutrals with bits of black, contemporary minimalism is felt in every nook and cranny of the home.

This 2,600 sq-ft home in northern Bengaluru is envisaged by Studio Autumn to be an IT couple’s (and their two fur babies’) haven. Founder and Principal Designer Chintan Punjabi encapsulates the spirit of the home in a quote by Jane Austen – there is nothing like staying at home for real comfort.

Clean lines and crisp contrast

As one steps foot into the abode, they’re greeted with the site of rectangular art composition on the other end, disguising the guest bedroom with a monochrome wallpaper. Replacing a traditional foyer, a wall-mounted console paired with organic mirrors becomes a space dedicated to functionality.

The living space serves a dual purpose – perfect for an evening of entertaining and a lazy day on the coffee-coloured couch. With an arm chaise, armchairs and a sofa, there is more than enough space for the homeowner’s friends and family. The dining table is a far contrast from the soft and cosy appearance of the living room, with wood taking centre stage. The ashwood dining table paired with the black polished jute chairs, depicts a perfect tonal contrast.

A tinted glass unit serves as the partition between this space and the kitchen that is designed with functionality at the forefront, not bereft of playfulness of course – with the ceramic dado tiles. Textures take the cake in the bedrooms. A cemented finish and fluted panelling meld in the master suite that is immersed in shades of beige. The guest bedroom features a terracotta and lime-plastered colour-blocked wall against the simple low-height platform bed.

Unlike the other two bedrooms, the third bedroom incorporates versatility and spirituality with minimalism. It features a pooja corner for worship and a suave desk for those days when work is worship (from home of course).

Beige, not blase

The monotone palette never becomes predictable. Chintan says, “ Steeped in a medley of textures, the abode poses as a palpable symbiosis, illustrating a seamless mesh of minimalism and functionality.” These finishes throughout the home testify to the subtle but thoughtful touches that make the space a couple’s abode of comfort.
