Like a conversation between shapes and patterns, the arched lime-washed walls of a Pune home tend to the idea of geometry in every nook of the space. While we view geometry as just shapes, it holds the power of being so much more. This 1,300 sq ft abode designed by Chetan Lahoti and Anand Deshmukh of Mind Manifestation explores the many ways of geometry to spell the homeowners’ desires for a visually fulfilling sanctuary.

With an intention of creating an experimental yet inviting home, the principal architects explain, “Discussions revolved around creating a space that embraced geometry and harmony while offering pockets of vibrant expression. The homeowners sought a balance between organisation and visual appeal, which led to the integration of customised furniture to add distinctive elements to the design.”

Inside the red door

Right at the entrance, one is greeted by a beguiling red door which opens up to a foyer with geometric accents that take shape against the lime washed walls. As one treads ahead, the living room carries a green geometric installation that drapes the space with patterns and arches. The space also carries a muted colour palette that lends a backdrop to the freshness of green hues and the earthiness of wooden furniture.

And as they share, “Designing the living room was a joyous journey of exploration, where every curve and angle seemed to dance in harmony with the sprightly hues and intricate details. The most challenging aspect was perhaps crafting the perfect balance between form and function in the house, where innovation and practicality had to coalesce seamlessly.”

Puzzling solutions

Like a puzzle coming together with each piece offering a different input to complete the picture, this home stretches further with an element of surprise at every step. The kitchen opens up with a harmony of circles on the floor that lead the way towards a blend of wooden shelves and green tiles that adds a lively touch. While the consistency is visible through the grey walls, the furniture emphasises on an impactful appeal.

With each room showcasing a distinctive character while mimicking the same motif, a sense of unique yet consistent visual appeal emerges. As one makes their way towards the master bedroom, a whiff of experimentation entails, as the room reflects a comforting ambience with the timber panelled step installation on the wall behind the bed, that directs towards the dressing room.

While the guest bedroom is a concoction of muted tones with repurposed furniture, the kid’s bedroom is a playful arena with monochromatic blue shades and wooden elements. With lines and curves deliberately shaping the unconfined flow of the textured grey walls, one can find a seamless blend of vivacious tones with muted ones, enticing a soothing visual to the eyes.

The duo concludes, “Each room serves as a canvas for showcasing a vibrant interplay of shapes, colours, and textures, creating a cohesive yet eclectic living environment.”
