Telly-ing the future: 5 reasons to look out for Samsung’s 2024 TVs enhanced with artificial intelligence
APR 24, 2024 | By Namrata Dewanjee
From Blade Runner to Ex Machina, for those of us who are sci-fi aficionados, artificial intelligence has always seemed like an enticing yet distant future. And if AI-enhanced TVs sound too good to be true, brace yourself! Samsung introduces the 2024 line-up of Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K and OLED TVs with artificial intelligence-driven solutions.
And what better location to host than at Bengaluru’s Samsung Opera House? This 1930s architectural treasure in the tech city was constructed in the British-era Cantonment. However, when Samsung took over the structure in 2016, they kept the storied legacy while remodelling the plaza in front, inviting people in. This human connection harboured by the Korean brand is at the core of their philosophy and translates into their products as well. ELLE DECOR India presents to you five reasons why the Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K and OLED TVs are not your run-off-the-mill tellies.
#1 The human in artificial intelligence
We asked Mohandeep Singh, Senior Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung India, how this era of AI-enhanced televisions would better the human experience. He instead focuses our attention on the relationship between a Samsung device and the user. He says, “When we launched the frame television, the thought behind that was that you do not watch television for more than a few hours a day. But you’ve got the device lying there forever, right? So, we gave the screen a matte finish for you to display a painting.
The television today has a lot of sensors. Let’s say you have a pet, but you have to lock the house and head out. The television sensors can pick up a distress sound from the pet. How do you enrich the consumer experiences across data with all the devices that we have? My belief is that AI, connected, smart, is the solution.”
#2 Pixel perfect
Are you a fan of black-and-white films but bothered by the resolution? With AI Picture Technology, you never have to miss the facial expressions and subtler nuances from your favourite flicks, be it Satyajit Ray’s cinematic features or old Bollywood rom-coms. (We don’t judge.) Additionally, the AI Upscaling Pro transforms content to closely match the 8K display and the Real Depth Enhancer Pro adds a lifelike depth to the picture making for a better viewing experience.
#3 True colours
If your taste leans towards stunning nature documentaries like Netflix’s Our Planet, you have probably faced the roadblock of ashy blacks ruining the glorious deep-sea imagery or had to pause and adjust the lighting in your room to avoid reflections. Samsung presents the world’s first glare-free OLED, eliminating unnecessary reflections while preserving deep blacks and clear images under any lighting condition.
#4 Asanas to Assassin’s Creed
From gamers to yoga enthusiasts, Samsung has something for everyone. With the Smart Yoga feature and an AI-enabled mat, you get real-time asana tracking tips and posture correction feedback. Cloud Gaming Service, on the other hand, enables users to experience the latest games with Plug and Play with no console or PC required. AI Auto Game Mode adapts to the game and the genre to fine-tune the picture and sound quality settings.
#5 Tuned to you
Gone are the days of scouring for the perfect volume settings and adjusting the colours on the screen manually. These futuristic devices adapt to your preferences instead. AI Sound Technology helps deliver precise audio with Active Voice Amplifier Pro detecting unwanted background noises and adjusting volume accordingly. Adaptive Sound Pro further refines the audio experience by adjusting the audio to the content and room acoustics. AI Customization Mode adjusts the picture for each scene based on your viewing experience and the type of content you are watching.
Perhaps we should let Philip K. Dick know that now Androids (or at least Samsung TVs) can finally dream of electric sheep!
