This Noida home designed by 7 Sparrows is drenched in a stellar combination of functionality and contemporary minimalism
DEC 2, 2022 | By Akshay Bipin Luthiya
Designed by Anupama Kumar, Principal Designer of 7 Sparrows, this 2,650 sq ft Noida apartment plays with materiality that inculcates a sense of calmness and tranquillity.
The entire design approach is to transform the apartment into a distinctive identity of its own, setting it apart from its adjoining apartments.
The curious brief
The idea was to create a space with clean lines, keeping them neat, and minimal underlining the architectural feature, which in this case is huge glazings and natural light in every room and zone.
“Doing this project was a smooth sail as my client showed complete faith in me, we never had two opinions about anything,” reveals Anupama.
Tour the home
As one walks by, the foyer unrolls itself in tones of grey and white and a passage from the entrance foyer opens in a large hall and knits the living area on the right side contrary to the dining on the left side. The definitive decor pieces in the living room speak the vintage language.
Moving ahead, the kitchen which could be separated by a sliding door, giving privacy when required, connects to the dining area.
Further inside the apartment, a full-length glass partition adjacent to the living room gives the family the required privacy.
As one passes the family lounge a passage connects all the bedrooms -first on the left side is the son’s trendy bachelor pad in concrete grey tint accommodating a drum set, a few steps ahead on right is a master bedroom and as one goes straight, is a daughter’s room dipped in pastel shades and classic wood.
Through muted tones the designers have played a lot with upholstery and rich fabric textures to break the monotony and added occasional accent colours in a few furniture pieces for bringing a bit of drama required in some specific zones.
This home is blessed with abundant natural light arriving from both sides of wide windows and its two decks run along the entire length of the apartment creating calm fuss-free luxury interiors.
Ideas to bookmark
Grey, black and white is the dominant colour palette and teak wood is a major material used for furniture and wall panellings, supported by powder-coated metal for the base and exposed frameworks.
Conscious efforts were made to add a little cocoon from the world by adding planters and a vertical green wall on the balcony. The designers have achieved to make this home look warm, welcoming and luxurious at the same time through stand-out pieces of furniture, material choices and selective art pieces for every room.
Anupama says, “We remained minimalist in intent, but infused traditional nuances with art pieces and decor accessories.”
What the designer fell in love with
The entire design approach is to transform the apartment into a distinctive identity of its own, setting it apart from its adjoining apartments.
“Working within a space with inherited elements that could not be altered, such as the existing false ceiling, glazing frames and door finishes and fitting them into the theme and planning was the biggest challenge,” concludes Anupama.
