In contemporary interiors, light has evolved beyond function. It now shapes atmosphere, anchors architecture, and gives form to emotion. With Anisora, White Teak by Asian Paints presents a lighting collection that sits at this intersection where illumination becomes structure, and material becomes narrative. Designed in collaboration with Swiss design studio atelier oï, the collection approaches light not as an accessory, but as a living presence within space. The inspiration is both elemental and poetic. Anisora draws from the image of a seed: small yet potent, holding within it the promise of growth. Its name traces back to star anise and the Latin ora, meaning light, reflecting a quiet dialogue between nature and design. Like a seed awakening, light in Anisora originates at the core, radiating outward to slowly reveal form, texture and depth.

A Luminous Seed

Alabaster lies at the heart of the collection. Chosen for its inherent translucence and organic veining, the stone allows light to diffuse gently rather than cause a glare. Circular alabaster discs are composed around a central axis, creating a rhythmic geometry that feels both sculptural and architectural. As light passes through the stone, it accentuates its natural irregularities, ensuring no two pieces are ever identical. The effect is subtle, almost meditative, as light that breathes rather than performs. Complementing the alabaster are delicate gold-toned metal accents that lend quiet structure to the form. These details reference the grace of traditional chandeliers and lanterns, yet are stripped back and reinterpreted for modern interiors. The result is a collection that feels timeless without nostalgia, contemporary without severity.

In a new light

Spanning pendant lights, table lamps and floor lamps, Anisora is designed to inhabit space thoughtfully. Each piece holds its own as an object, yet integrates seamlessly into architectural environments: suspended above a dining table, anchoring a living space, or casting a soft glow in a quiet corner. For White Teak, the collaboration with atelier oï marks a deliberate step towards material-led, globally informed design. Known for dissolving boundaries between object and space, the Swiss studio brings its intuitive, nature-driven approach to the collection, allowing material to guide form and light to dictate experience.
