Emotional resonance across continents

L’Objet debuts at The Chanakya in New Delhi

BY

Design acts as sentiment, fragrance as memory and objects as stories in the universe of L’OBJET. The cult luxury design and fragrance house founded by Elad Yifrach brings its enigmatic presence to New Delhi, unveiling its first Indian flagship at The Chanakya. Known for its soulful craftsmanship and emotive design language, they open a portal to a world unto itself. But in a country imbued with culture and ritual, how do you make space for a new lens of seeing?

THE INDIAN WAY

The brand’s foray in India is made possible through their collaboration with Modi Enterprises, helmed by Samir Modi. With a vision to bring world-class luxury to Indian consumers, the partnership aims to create a presence for L’OBJET in a landscape already rich with design heritage. Unlike conventional retail rollouts, this debut feels tailored to India’s cultural rhythm and narrative. “We wanted to create something different, something that felt personal,” Elad explains.

Founded in 2004, L’Objet is globally celebrated for its crafted tableware, home decor, apothecary lines and fragrances. The brand brings artisanal traditions to contemporary aesthetics. Its global presence includes boutiques in New York, Paris and London. Now, with its 20th anniversary, the brand sets its sights on India. For Elad, a trained interior designer with an instinct for storytelling, opening in India is a homecoming of sorts. “The richness of Indian hospitality, materials and rituals — it all speaks the same emotional and creative language we’ve always embraced,” he shares.

AN INVITATION TO DISCOVER

The new flagship at The Chanakya is a visual and spatial translation of L’Objet’s design values. From curving architectural elements to curated vignettes, every corner is meant to inspire discovery. “I always design spaces with a certain flow. I want people to walk slowly, to feel enveloped by the textures and light,” Elad says.

At the heart of the store is a lacquered sculptural totem, inspired by sacred Indian architectural forms, which leads into the dining room. The store showcases the full spectrum of their offerings from iconic classics to newer collections, highlighting the brand’s evolution over the past two decades. The goal is to create emotional resonance.

STORE BECOMES A STORY

For Elad, the brand is all about conversation, connection and craft. Its success lies not in scale but in soul. A kind of luxury that honours time, materiality and the human hand.

He is hopeful that guests will come away with something more than inspiration. “I want people to rediscover the joy of the everyday. That’s where design becomes truly powerful.”
