The best of Indian and international architects, designers and cultural experts will converge at ID Mumbai 2025 for the ID Symposium, taking place from September 26 to 27, 2025 at Jio World Garden, Bandra Kurla Complex. A two-day convergence of intellect and creativity, the symposium is poised to explore the intersections of architecture, design, art and technology, offering incisive discourse and innovative paradigms.

ID Symposium brings together leading voices in the fields of design, architecture and allied creative disciplines. Through solo talks, panel discussions and interactive dialogues, speakers will share insights into emerging ideas, industry experiences and global trends. Reflecting on the fair’s theme, The Age of Design Syncretism, the programming navigates dialectic conversations around craftsmanship and technology, conservation and legacy, local and global, memory and future.

SEPTEMBER 26, 2025: DESIGN, IDENTITY AND URBAN FUTURES

The day opens with Interventions for Change: Rethinking Mumbai’s Masterplan, where architect-activist P.K. Das of PKDA Architects, infrastructure expert Ratan J. Batliboi of RJB-CPL and architect and production designer Anuradha Parikh of G5A Foundation examine how participatory planning and cultural regeneration can shape the city’s future, moderated by Rohan Shivkumar, Dean of Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies in Mumbai.

In Textile Matters: Fostering Indo-French Collaborations, Loïc Turpin of Manufactures Nationales and textile researcher, curator and writer Mayank Mansingh Kaul discuss cross-cultural craft collaborations between India and France, led by Amandine Roggeman from the French Embassy in India.

Designing for Water: Sustainability in Urban India sees architect Sonali Rastogi of Morphogenesis, landscape architect Kunaal Maniar and Ranjeet Oak, Managing Director – South Asia at Kohler, explore water-sensitive design strategies, in conversation with Sneha Ullal Goel, brand and marketing communications specialist and design culturist.

The dialogue shifts to the intersection of disciplines in Cross-pollination of Form, Fabric and Space, with fashion designer Ruchika Sachdeva of Bodice, interior architect Asha Sairam of Studio Lotus and designer Apoorva Shroff of lyth Design, moderated by Tanya Khanna of Epistle.

In Designing Identity: Taste, Luxury and the Contemporary Indian Interior, EDIDA winners Kohelika Kohli, Rajiv Parekh and Shantanu Garg reflect on crafting culturally rooted yet globally resonant luxury spaces, moderated by Mrudul Pathak Kundu, Editor of ELLE DECOR India.

The day concludes with The Architecture of Time – Memory and Future, a keynote by visionary Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill, followed by moderated questions by Tanya Khanna, rediscovering the meaning of future time and present space

SEPTEMBER 27, 2025: CRAFT, CULTURE AND IMMERSIVE FUTURES

In Building the Future Vernacular, Batool Alshaikh and Maitham Almubarak of bahraini—danish explore materiality, craft and local culture in contemporary practice. They are in conversation with curator Oliva Sartogo of VIV Arts.

Reimagining Tradition – From Craft to Collectible Design features Valérie Maltaverne, founder of the Paris-based studio YMER&MALTA, who directs the collaborations between designers and craftspeople to create limited-edition collectible design pieces. She is in conversation with Misha Bains, Fair Director of India Design ID.

Beyond the Storefront: Creating Immersive Retail Worlds brings together Pavitra Rajaram of Pavitra Rajaram Design and Nilaya Anthology, known for crafting conceptual, narrative-driven luxury and experiences, Gursi Singh of Lovebirds, Yash Bhanage of Hunger Inc. Hospitality and artists Doyel Joshi and Neil Ghose Balser, both of Howareyoufeeling.studio.

At Mumbai Deco: Preserving a Modern Legacy, conservation architect Vikas Dilawari of Vikas Dilawari Architects and Atul Kumar of the Art Deco Trust Mumbai delve into the challenges and triumphs of safeguarding the city’s celebrated Art Deco architecture. The session will be moderated by architect Aahana Miller of ABM, offering insights on preservation as a form of cultural stewardship.

EDIDA winner Divya Thakur of Design Temple and the Museum of Design Excellence, Sandeep Sangaru of Sangaru Design Studio and EDIDA winner Vritima Wadhwa Singh of Project 810 will take the stage for The Future of Craft in Contemporary Furniture Design. Moderated by designer and another EDIDA winner Ayush Kasliwal of AKFD Studio and Anantaya, the panel will explore how traditional craft can be reimagined for modern living.

The session on The Rising Influence of Interior Design and Curation in Lifestyle, concluding the second day of ID Symposium will feature Susanne Khan of The Charcoal Project, Simone Arora of D’Decor, FabriCare and SIMONE, and Pasquale Junior Natuzzi of Natuzzi. Moderated by Sukriti Sharrma of plüsch, this discussion will examine how interior design has evolved beyond spatial aesthetics to shape lifestyle experiences and influence consumer culture.
