As Le Corbusier once said, “The home should be the treasure chest of living.” This Mumbai home embodies that thought adorned with the freshness of sage green and the lasting warmth of timber. Nestled on a quaint street in Mumbai, Neha Kachhara Interiors has designed this 850 sq ft abode designed for routines of repose and revelry.
“The homeowners sought a space where they could connect with it on a personal level. We responded with a design concept of sage and timber,” shares Neha Kachhara, principal designer of her namesake firm. The sage green palette brings a sense of tranquillity and rested charm. While the touch of timber, warm wooden accent and taupe hues add depth and richness to the space.
Making space
“Our biggest challenge was creating the illusion of more space without relying on mirrors,” says Neha about the kitchen. The open-up kitchen with the sleek glass partition, makes the space look more spacious. With simplistic sensibilities, a marble countertop and a backsplash, it reminds one of a countryside escape.
The living space also flows seamlessly into the bedrooms, which are laden with sage sensibilities. Each with a minimalist colour palette and the natural touch of the softest green, full of natural light makes for inviting relaxation nooks.
On a short stroll across the hallway, one finds a snug surprise. Thoughtfully tucked away in the hallway is a reading nook for those leisurely hours.“We had a delightful time designing the study nook,” recollects Neha. The walls here are clad in green and white striped wallpaper tying together the colour scheme are the green shelves, which are full of literary escapes.
Every corner of this thoughtfully designed abode tells a story of comfort and elegance. Here, the warmth of timber and the natural touch of sage hues are spruced around the beige and whites — melding tranquillity with astute design decisions that elevate everyday life.
Completely transformed into a space unafraid of colours and deluged in textures, this home in Greenwich, Connecticut defines a genre of its own. Designed by Monica Fried of her eponymous interior design practice Monica Fried Design, the home pre-glow-up as described by her was, “A new construction home with beautiful bones but not much colour […]
