Composed in light and marble

Italian sensibility meets Mumbai’s sea breeze at this elegant home by Kaushik and Jasmine of DWG Design

In the heart of Breach Candy, where the sea hums softly against the city’s edge,  designer Kaushik Wadhwana of Dwg Design has crafted a residence that feels less like an apartment and more like a composed symphony of light, texture and tranquillity.  Spanning approximately 2,400 sq ft, this sea-facing home translates luxury into emotion — tactile, layered and quietly luminous.

From the moment one steps inside, the home draws you in with its orchestration of light and material. The living and dining zones are cocooned in warmth — their neutral shell enlivened by accents of burnished gold, marble and plush textiles. The design vocabulary is deliberate yet soft-spoken, steering away from excess and leaning instead into elevated calm.

Two striking red velvet swivel chairs punctuate the otherwise neutral living area — a deliberate move that infuses vitality into the space without disturbing its serenity. The curved sectional sofa, the metallic sheen of the coffee table and the organic texture of the Hands Carpet beneath create a living tableau that feels both grounded and glamorous. Every element is in dialogue — the shine of metal softened by matte surfaces, the geometry of form counterbalanced by the flow of light filtering through sheer drapes.

The dining area, anchored by a circular glass-top table and surrounded by soft ivory chairs, glows under the timeless shimmer of Masiero chandeliers. The lighting scheme — a blend of Silcom, Masiero and custom pieces by Navin Kandoi for Spacio Lights — lends a sculptural dimension to the interiors, transforming illumination into ornamentation.  Overhead, the onyx-toned ceiling refracts a soft glow, creating a haloed ambience that moves fluidly from day to evening.

Throughout the home, that belief takes shape in textures that converse quietly — the rippling stone of the kitchen backsplash, the velvety warmth of upholstered forms, the mirrored reflections that stretch space without overwhelming it. The kitchen, sheathed in a swirling expanse of marble with earthy veins, is designed as both utility and art. It opens seamlessly toward the dining area, merging domesticity with elegance. The glass-fronted cabinetry, soft beige tones and metallic detailing lend it an almost gallery-like grace — an atelier of modern living.

The home’s aesthetic narrative finds its rhythm in its furnishings — a refined curation from brands like Roberto Cavalli Home Interiors, and Luxury Living Group, each chosen not as statement pieces, but as part of an emotional landscape. They echo the homeowner’s penchant for comfort draped in couture — where form serves function and beauty lingers in the in-between.

The bedroom unfolds as an intimate retreat, upholstered in soft blush and champagne tones accented by touches of gold. The bed’s sculptural headboard with metallic inlays reads almost like jewellery — delicate yet defining. Behind it, a hand-painted mural of an ethereal greenhouse forms a poetic backdrop, bringing nature indoors in an abstract, dreamlike manner. Plush cushions, sheened fabrics, and ambient lighting together craft an atmosphere of repose, where morning light feels like silk and night falls in slow motion.

Across spaces, DWG’s approach remains consistent: to evoke emotion through proportion, material and movement. Each room feels distinct, yet every space belongs to the same story: a home that’s cohesive in tone but nuanced in personality. The palette flows effortlessly from warm taupes and muted greys to moments of deep red and antique brass. This rhythm of restraint gives the interiors a cinematic fluidity — one that shifts from the drama of the living room to the intimacy of the bedroom, from the sheen of marble to the softness of linen.

What stands out most in Kaushik’s design is his sensitivity to balance. Despite the luxurious detailing: the shimmering brass accents, the sculptural forms, the Italian craftsmanship, there’s never an overwhelming sense of indulgence. Instead, what emerges is a dialogue between quiet glamour and thoughtful design.

Spacio Accessories Mumbai lends the finishing touches: sculptural accents, glass objets and statement lighting that punctuate the space like commas in a lyrical sentence. Every corner feels intentional, styled to invite both admiration and ease.

Styled with finesse by Jasmine from DWG Design, the home carries a refined personality that’s rooted in sophistication yet alive with modern charm. The styling doesn’t compete with the architecture – it converses with it, emphasising how Kaushik’s interiors are not about spectacle but about sentiment.

Photographed with poetic restraint by Studio Colour Blind, the imagery captures the  home as it truly feels — warm, tactile and cinematic. The lens lingers on the details: the interplay of shadows, the caress of light on velvet, the whisper of marble veins across surfaces.

In essence, this Breach Candy apartment distils the idea of modern Indian luxury — a vision that values craft, proportion and emotional resonance over overt opulence. Kaushik Wadhwana’s design is both a reflection and a respite: a home that listens, breathes and glows softly by the sea.
