Textures, colours, and finishes undeniably engage our sensesβthey invite touch, spark curiosity, and leave a lasting impression. At the Coast to Coast Veneer Experience Centre in New Delhi, veneers transcend their typical role as retail products and take centre stage as a design-driven medium of expression. This 10,000 sq ft space, conceptualised by Prashant Kochhar, Partner and Principal Architect at LTDF, redefines how we experience veneers, offering an immersive journey through material, craft, and creativity.

Designed to be much more than a traditional showroom, the centre seamlessly integrates veneer displays with thoughtful design elements to encourage exploration.Β

Inspired by nature
From the reception area to the mezzanine level, connected by a visually striking spiral staircase, every detail serves as an ode to the versatility of veneers. Beyond simply presenting products, this centre invites visitors to experience the interplay of tactile finishes, natural light, and expertly curated materials in a way that feels innovative and grounded in design.
The designer draws inspiration from the calming elements of nature, such as rippling water and a gentle sea breeze, creating a space that flows harmoniously with the senses. Neutral earthy tones dominate the colour palette, with beige, taupe and shades of white forming a warm backdrop that accentuates the displayed veneers. The walls feature a textured, granular finish by OIKOS, adding subtle depth to the interiors, while natural light streams through strategically placed north-facing windows, enhancing the veneersβ organic beauty.

Collaborative craftsmanship
Every corner of the centre showcases bespoke craftsmanship. The reception desk and furniture for the veneer display were custom-made by Coast to Coast, while Sunday Design provided additional furniture. A round artwork installation in veneer, conceptualized by LTDF and executed by Coast to Coast, is the centre’s focal point. The lighting design, a mix of architectural fixtures from Artlite and decorative drop lights from The White Teak Company, ensures a perfect balance of functionality and ambience. Jaipur Rugs adds texture underfoot, and graphic artwork prints, designed in-house, lend a personalized touch to the space.

Highlights of the space
The spiral staircase, a late addition to the design brief, stands out as both a sculptural and functional feature. Its muted rose column paired with light wood undersides reflects the projectβs emphasis on soft, flowing forms. The exposed ductwork introduces an industrial contrast to the otherwise polished interiors.
LTDF has transformed the veneer selection process by creating a space that encourages tactile and visual interaction. The Coast to Coast Veneer Experience Center is not just a showroom; itβs an inspiring design destination that sparks creativity in customers and designers alike.
