You’re still waiting for a scroll of parchment inviting you to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, aren’t you? There’s good news! Universal Studios Hollywood in California offers something as authentic – Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Created in partnership with Alan Gilmore, art director for some of the Harry Potter movies, the set showcases the minutest details and props from the films. At the entrance you are greeted by a replica of the Hogwarts Express.
As you reach the main premises, it’s like walking right into the books – cobblestone streets and buildings with askew chimneys. Among a battery of shops, Ollivanders, which sells interactive wands stands out. At 11 locations you can wave these and something dramatic happens.
Of course, no park is complete without rides – hop aboard “Flight of the Hippogriff” roller coaster or “Forbidden Journey,” that takes you to the Hogwarts Castle. Hawk-eyed fans will spot many details, from talking portraits to props in Dumbledore’s office. Stroll around like a witch or a wizard and enjoy a day of non-mugglery.
