If you are in two minds about going the urbane or rustic way, why not fuse them together? Sal wood table with timber legs, floor lamp and white chairs in PU fabric, all custom made

To ensure productivity, an office space should reflect the thought process of the individual. All elements should come together in harmony to provide an inspiring atmosphere. If you are in two minds about going the urbane or rustic way, why not fuse them together?

Take a page from designer Sonali Purewal’s office in Kasauli – a “modern Asian” setup mixed with wood. The main desk made of sal wood is supported with timber legs. The border around the windows is wooden too. The basic floor is painted with traditional motifs and the office is strewn with traditional art and craft items collected by the interiors expert.

Give your own home office a bit of a twist. Instead of opting for natural stone flooring which would easily blend with wood, go for concrete slabs. Play around with handicrafts in vivid shades that also double up as storage. Choose a wooden tabletop with metal legs if you don’t want a chunky look. Pick between fairy lights and paper lanterns to cast an ethereal glow on the area.
