These bespoke, empire yellow surfaces were initially laser cut on individual MS sheets and then welded together over a metal framework. Kozhikode based Arun Shekar Gowda and Mohammed Afnan took inspiration from art galleries to achieve a distinctive design vocabulary for Limotex’s 1,010 sq ft office. With an airy, joyous vibe, the office’s sunny interiors are experienced right from the reception. Set in Udaipur’s rich architectural landscape, this picturesque property borrows a heritage yellow tone for its facade from the surrounding golden deserts. The construction of the waterfront boutique hotel resembles that of numerous historic edifices in the city, designed in accordance with Mewar culture. It is built using yellow sandstone and lined with lime instead of cement (to keep interiors naturally cool). Website: www.staybloom.com

Ingredients:
310g of canned corn kernels
4 egg yolks
2 finely chopped and seeded jalapeño peppers
2 tbsp of finely chopped fresh chives
2 rolled, shortcrust pastry sheets
1 cup of brie cheese
½ cup of cream
salt, sugar and parmesan to taste

Method:
Preheat oven and a baking tray to 180°C (fan-forced). Grease a 3cm deep, 22cm (base) round fluted, loose-based flan tin. Line its base and sides with pastry. Freeze the pastry for 10 minutes or until it is firm. Then, place the tin on the heated baking tray and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the pastry is light golden.

In another bowl mix corn, cheese, jalapeño and chives. Arrange this mixture over the base of the pastry. Beat the egg yolks and cream in another container. Season this blend with salt and sugar before pouring onto the corn mixture. Top with a drizzle of parmesan and bake for another 25 minutes until it sets. Serve hot.
