Scarlet Splendour at India Design ID 2016: Stories from the show

FEB 22, 2016 | By Aditi Sharma Maheshwari

Siblings Ashish Bajoria and Suman Kanodia’s Kolkata based brand Scarlet Splendour merges design with luxury and is known for its statement furniture pieces and theatrical lights. The owners give us a lowdown of their experience at India’s definitive design week.
Their collections “Our entire booth was designed as a concept ‘Cirque de Luxe’, meaning luxury with fun. We presented bits and pieces of our old and new collections: Matteo Cibic’s (who won EDIDA India Young Talent 2015) Vanilla Noir, Luxury 24K gold lights and zen garden inspired carpets called Karesansui. Among others were Gufram products, Fools’ Gold furniture designed in house, Kracht consoles by Jolan Van Der Wiel, Dark Angel collection of colonial pieces redone with a surrealistic look and Scarlet Eclectics that are vintage curios sourced for styling.”
Exhibiting at India Design ID 2016“This is one of the best decor exhibitions in the country and we’ve been attending it for the past 3 years. We have seen the show grow and in fact, this edition looked almost like a mini Maison et Objet.”
Their experience“India Design ID really helped us with our brand building. From students and designers to architects, bloggers and press… everyone appreciated our work.”
What they loved “We really liked the booth by Adil Ahmad (for Cottons and Satins). The talk by Tom Dixon at ID Symposium was excellent. Plus, the show was very well organised.”
Next year at India Design ID“We haven’t planned anything yet but you can definitely expect something exceptional from us at India Design ID 2017.”
