The region’s premier trade fair for high-quality design will unveil the emerging industry trends at its sixth edition in Dubai, 13-16 November. Alongside a stellar showcase of some of the most lust-worthy international contemporary design brands such as Bomma, CC-Tapis, Melogranoblu and Preciosa, among others, a dynamic talks programme and exclusive networking events, Downtown Design 2018 will focus on what is critical to sustaining the growth of the design industry.

In an ever-shrinking world, creative collaboration holds the key. Be it award-winning designers who will speak at the fair – including Ini Archibong, Marc Ange and Matthew McCormick who revel in creative, cultural and technological code-share – to showcasing works by regional designers developed in partnership with International brands such as Lasvit and Cosentino among others, Downtown Design 2018 will celebrate the culture of collaboration.
Pioneering international architectural firms such as Foster+Partners, Grimshaw Architects and Zaha Hadid Architects, will share upcoming projects that will strengthen communities via a sustainable design approach. They will be joined by the region’s most innovative developers to discuss planning the cities of the future.
Karen Howes, the award-winning mentor will present her acclaimed ‘Business of Design’ summit to equip creative entrepreneurs with the necessary tools and mindset to expand their brands. The workshops ‘Brand your Instagram and ‘LinkedIn for Design Professionals’ will help attendees better their brands through enhanced social media strategies. Ultimately, it is the quality of our interaction with the surroundings that will measure the future success of any design scheme; the fair’s masterplan echoes this sentiment. Developed along the theme of ‘Liveable Cities’, it will feature elements such as indoor landscaped gardens, bespoke café concepts and large-scale installations by coveted international brands.
Together, Downtown Design 2018 will present an immersive experience of contemporary design; one that honours the legacy of artisanship explores its interaction with innovation and lays down the blueprint for the future of the design industry.
