Artists around the country helped piece together the funky new Aloft hotel in Delhi’s Aerocity, where pop art and colourful cocktails greet you right at the lobby. Using works by Ahmad Raza, Veer Munshi and Niladri Paul to name a few, project design head Anshul Srivastava says they aimed to “create a playful, fun and eclectic space that is welcoming to young travellers.”

The design brief insisted on the “concept of seamlessness within the lobby, that the spaces should flow into one another, providing a wholesome unique experience.”The lobby area is reminiscent of the vibrancy of Bo-Kaap in Cape Town, famed for the brightly-hued homes that dot the cobblestone streets.

Architect and designer Pankhuri Goel of Studio Lotus says, “We played up the monochromatic interiors of the lobby with neutral shells breaking into colourful seating spaces, allowing people to hang out and have conversations.”

Come evening and you have the entire lobby turned into a dance floor with live music. Aloft’s chill and eclectic vibe extends to the rooftop where you have a bar and an infinity pool which overlooks a 12-metre-high wall artwork by renowned artist Gauri Sharma.
