Nexion’s collaboration with Darpana Academy of Performing Arts brings Shakespeare’s reinterpretation of Macbeth to India

This vibrant hub not only births impeccable projects but becomes the crucible where the alchemy of human connections occurs. As Nexion sponsors an artistic residency at the Darpana Academy of Performing Arts, Ahmedabad emerges as the canvas where the strokes of Italy and India blend together, crafting a masterpiece that has no geographical confines.

Nexion, a leader in the production of high-quality sintered stone surfaces that is exporting to 50 countries worldwide, supports the development of the Indian social fabric to European standards.

Proposed by Mallika Sarabhai, the daughter of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, a prominent figure in the field of science and development in India and Mrinalini Sarabhai, a renowned dancer of Indian classical dance and the founder of the Darpana Academy of Performing Arts, Nexion, has entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Darpana Academy of Performing Arts.

They have formed a three-year partnership to sponsor an artistic residency at Darpana Academy. This Indo-Italian collaboration was aimed to create a cultural bridge between India and Italy, celebrating rich cultural heritages of both nations, and strengthen ties between the local and international communities.

Thanks to Nexion, India will host Massimiliano Troiani, Italian director and son of a master in cinematographic photography known worldwide for his work in documentary and theatre, and the Italian set designer Laura Fasciolo with years of experience in theatrical and museum exhibition. Massimiliano will direct Shakespeare’s reinterpretation of Macbeth which will incorporate both Indian and Italian cultural elements. 

The show will premiere on 28th December, 2023, at 8.30 pm at the 44th Vikram Sarabhai International Arts Festival of Natarani, Darpana Academy of Performing Arts, and will go on a tour, featuring Mallika in the leading role.

Ahmedabad, where Nexion’s central office has found their home, will be a meeting point between two realities where not only products and projects come to life but also human connections that transcend geographical boundaries.
