    Celebrating a fusion of innovation and heritage while uniting India and Italy through shared passions for art, culture, and storytelling! It’s a quest like no other. Darpana Academy of Performing Arts in Ahmedabad features a three-year collaboration with Nexion, an Italian-Indian manufacturer of high-quality sintered surfaces.

    The Darpana Academy of Performing Arts is a sanctuary producing an array of performances filled with joy, enriching connections with people and their surroundings. This collaboration, beautifully orchestrated by Mallika Sarabhai—activist, actress, and celebrated Indian classical dancer—brings us not just performances but transformative experiences to brighten our minds and lives. Continuing the legacy of her mother Mrinalini Sarabhai, a renowned Indian classical dancer and the founder of the Darpana Academy of Performing Arts, Mallika leaves an indelible mark in the field of performing arts.

    This partnership unfolds at the 45th Vikram Sarabhai International Arts Festival in December 2024. On 28th December, audiences will be mesmerised by Meanwhile, Elsewhere, a theatrical masterpiece by Darpana’s Artistic Director Yadavan Chandran inspired by Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. Through poetic monologues, dynamic choreography, and stunning visuals, this performance explores human longing and ambition in a world suspended between memory and imagination.

    On 29th December, Of Heroes and Gods, a groundbreaking show by Italian maestro and honorary associate professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Edoardo Catemario, takes centre stage. Inspired by the Mahābhārata, this performance unites Indian and Western musical traditions, bringing to life a tale of Karma, Dharma, and resilience, with Draupadi at its heart.

    It is safe to say this collaboration promotes both art and creativity, building a cultural bridge between Italy and India and celebrating the rich heritage of both nations. These performances elevate the lives of their audiences, and many more joyous experiences await you!
