From the very beginning, Naz has been involved in writing about design. She began her editorial career in 2003 at Marie Claire Maison, and worked for over a decade at Maison Française in Istanbul before she became the Editor-in-Chief of ELLE Decoration Turkey this year. When she’s not working, she can be found pottering in her garden or biking in the mountains.

Are there any hobbies that you’re indulging in while confined?
I have been learning new things about planting seeds, growing seedlings and have put my new findings to practice.

What is your greatest inspiration?
Nature. I am observing and learning from it every day.

Your current favourite design object…
My Bialetti moka pot, designed by Alfonso Bialetti in 1933.

A book or movie that you’d happily read or watch over and over again…
The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway and all Wes Anderson’s movies.

Your all-time favourite architect…
Frank Lloyd Wright because of his belief that nature is an architect’s school. The creative possibilities of form, colour, pattern, texture, proportion, rhythm and growth are all demonstrated in nature. Organic architecture does not imitate nature but is concerned with natural materials, the site and the people who will occupy the buildings.

A promising product designer from Turkey to watch out for…
Istanbul based Wangan Studio cofounded by Kerem Özerler, Kutay Yorulmaz and Mert Can Uzyıldırım. The studio won the EDIDA Turkey trophies for Young Talent and Outdoor this year because its creative endeavours go beyond traditional pursuits.
