Monochrome Mood: A serene bedroom in only black and white

Ebony and ivory can live together in perfect harmony. Even in the bedroom. The trick is to select pieces that are in black, white or both, but with various prints, patterns and textures.

Take this boudoir in Yoopune’s show apartment designed by Sussanne Khan. If you keep the foundation like the bed and basic linen in plain no-fuss B&W, keep the rest like the wallpaper in an unusual vintage print and introduce textures as well as patterns via the pillow covers and decoratives.

It never hurts to add in pieces that reflect who you are. Trunks used as side tables and the giant pocket-watch create an impression of the room belonging to a well-travelled person.

Too much chocolate and vanilla? Introduce one or two solid coloured elements like a chandelier or simply, flowers in a vase.
