The excitement of coming home is unmatched – especially at this Bengaluru abode that embraces you with an inviting calm, gently drawing you into its folds. A space that exemplifies a timeless charm, where design transcends fleeting trends to create an earthy hued sanctuary. Principal architect Sujitha Chandrasekharan of LAB9 Design imagined this minimalist home with fluted oakwood panelling, interspersed with black and white hues.
“We conceptualised the design with specific elements like neutral palettes and warm materials. By assessing the homeowner’s lifestyle, we proposed an open layout with free-flowing spaces,” says Sujitha.
Fluted and fluid
Crafted across 1,950 sq ft and brimming with open spaces along with clean-lines dressed in monochromatic hues, every corner whispers a tale of intention.
The entrance reveals a foyer that features elegant fluted wooden panels paired with a circular mirror drawing you in, becoming an equal spectator to the home’s thoughtful design. The open living room continues to set the tone with a partially fluted wooden television unit adorning the cream white walls.
This openness spills onto the dining room, extending into a sleek kitchen showcasing off-white cabinetry and tinted fluted glass. The highlight of the kitchen is the breakfast counter with its unique portal-like extension from wall to ceiling that offers a constant revelation of the origins and patterns shaping the fluid narrative of the home.
The pooja and study area lie ahead accompanied by the bedrooms which hum the earthy mood of the house with muted palettes and a sense of calm. Both the suites guide you to the yoga studio where a cosy reading nook is carved out of the wardrobe, basking in sunlight from the nearby window. Here every corner becomes an ode to relaxation, completing a narrative where walking around and absorbing the sights simply isn’t enough.
The allure of furniture
“To balance the simplicity of the neutral palette, we have incorporated minimal materials like wood and fabric, adding warmth, texture, and depth to the interiors,” Sujitha says
The home wears a synonymous mood where wood and fabric set the backdrops for furniture pieces dressed in sandy beiges, creamy whites and mellow greys. The dining area anchored by a beige quartz table top and tan leather chairs, ignites a resounding voice of simple sophistication. Fluted glass, hints of lush greenery and warm lighting unify the space exuding a tranquil energy.
Echoes of simplicity
Every corner of the home echoes with alluring simplicity. From the beauty of fluted furniture to the warmth of the lighting, all elements stand as an embodiment of an intentionally minimalist canvas throughout the space.
