Designers of the Year: Neri & Hu
Shanghai based creatives Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu founded their interdisciplinary studio Neri & Hu in 2004. The duo’s oeuvre covers almost all aspects of their chosen field – from interior design to architecture and product development. While at ease with residential and commercial spaces, they are equally adept at envisioning hospitality projects. They have also collaborated with several leading brands such as Nanimarquina, Poltrona Frau, Moooi and BD Barcelona Design.

Flooring: Visioni by Patricia Urquiola for CC-Tapis
The multi EDIDA winning Italian maker conjures an optical illusion with her rug for the local label. The Himalayan wool or pure silk carpet was handwoven by Tibetan artisans in Nepal.

The functional yet refined collection of wall-mounted and free standing mirrors, small and console tables is done in wood, brass and leather.

Lighting: Candela by Francisco Gomez Paz for Astep
The Argentinian maverick’s functional and productive lamp runs on bioethanol, can charge smartphones through a USB cable and also illuminate a room.

Fabric: Promenade au Faubourg by Nigel Peake for Hermes
The British architect and illustrator depicts a dream-like world on textiles where a groom is searching for his belongings in Promenade Au Faurborg.

Outdoor: Cala by Doshi Levien for Kettal
The British pair envisioned the chair’s ropes with open weaves to provide a lattice-like screen that maintains privacy while allowing a connection with nature.

Kitchen: VVD by Vincent Van Duysen for Dada
The Belgian innovator’s decluttered reinterpretation of the cookroom for the brand features pull out drawers, LED strip lights and open-ended trays.

Bathroom: Frame & Rest by Norn Architects for Ex.T
The sleek and minimally designed washspace fittings are heavily inspired by Nordic and industrial aesthetics. The set comprises a modular console with a steel frame to accommodate a basin, Rest pouffes with a single cushion and a two seater daybed.

Seating: Gender by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina
The armchair combines a hard shell with soft padding and a reclining backrest for optimum comfort. The tonal duality can be obtained in seven shades.

Tableware: 2016/ by 16 International Designers for Arita
For the brand’s 400th anniversary, creative directors Teruhiro Yanagihara and Scholten & Baijings roped in 16 designers and local artisans for a 300 piece line of serveware in porcelain.

Bedding: Makura by Piero Lissoni for Porro
The Italian maker upgrades the sleep space essential with a headboard and frame that can be entirely upholstered in fabric, leather or eco-leather. The sinuous form is padded with expanded polyurethane and topped with feather stuffed cushions. Its removable covers are available in several options from the brand’s vast range of textiles in several hues and textures.
