If your idea of well-spent Sunday afternoons involves snoozing on the warm porch, then this setting and you were clearly meant to be. We recommend styling your patio just like Pradeep Sachdeva’s comfortable, hazel hued verandah perched below the extended bamboo roof of his Gurgaon mansion.

If your style sits easily between country and contemporary, then consider a home with exposed, rustic red brick walls inside out. Unpretentious and down-to-earth, this toasted crust blends in well with all woody hues – from leather brown to light oak.

Doors and windows in bold horizontal frames will also complement the brick layering well. Casting glazed marble of multiple hues can be a refreshing change to plain kota or granite flooring. Accordingly accessorise with a large grandfather chair or traditional charpoy. Complete the setting with stone boulders for doorstops, lanterns and Christmas wreaths in the doorways to add a personal homely element.
