SEP 3, 2015 | By Jaina Chandwany
Like other pieces of furniture especially tables and seaters, storage systems too have gone beyond purpose and have become a great canvas for designers to experiment on. Take these fine examples from this year’s Salone del Mobile. 1. Driade Back in 1996, German designer Konstantic Grcic imagined the original Zig Zag bookcase, but 20 years and a new Art Director (David Chipperfield) later, he revisited it, with a modified aesthetic and material (oak and American walnut). It combines functionality with aesthetics that is perfect for skyline living. Website: www.giorgetti.eu3. Riva With solid wood planks glued together and arranged vertically, the Rialto Modulo 4 is a Briccole wood sideboard with drawers and doors. Designed for Italian label Riva, it is offered in various types of timber. Website: www.riva1920.it
