Kaitlyn’s Beer Garden, Mumbai gives a whole new meaning to conventional beer halls

Stuffed Zucchini is created with the goodness of zucchini and served with various dips. Beer Batter Fish and Chips is ideal to be paired with Belgian Wit. It is easy to see how Kaitlyn’s Beer Garden blurs the boundaries of a beer garden and a garden restaurant.
What is the best way you can ward off unpredictable showers this monsoon? By staying indoors of course! Last week, we raised our mug to a beer garden that is “inside” instead of al fresco to enjoy what Germans call gemütlichkeit – that cosy, fuzzy feeling of enjoying good food and company. Tucked in the posh Bandra vicinity, we made our way to Kaitlyn’s Beer Garden to have a beer-soaked evening.
First impression
As soon as we entered the space, planned by Nishant Umesh Desai, Creative Director of Umesh Desai & Associates, a feeling of entering a beer hall consumed us. Recreating an outdoor garden indoors, the place showcases faux trees instead of columns in a muted grey palette.
The interiors
The concept of contradiction flows throughout the space. The entrance leads from faux grass flooring and creepers to give you a complete opposite feeling to what’s inside. While one would expect to be greeted by greenery, the interiors boast a gorgeous grey concrete background against the diffused pastel dim lighting. The chairs and tables are designed to make them look robust, using rusty untreated leather.
”We wanted to give Kaitlyn the personality of the absolute Godmother of all the breweries in Mumbai! Since we don’t experience cold weather like European countries in Mumbai, we thought of giving our guests a similar experience indoors. The idea was to bring a unique ambience like no other and create a space that would carter to a large group of audiences,” says Shradha Pamnani, the bar’s owner.
The food and service
The menu is conventional and innovative replete with Indian, Continental and Chinese fare. The highlight, of course, is the various craft beers on offer. We tried Stout beer, which is creamy, and has a distinct flavour of coffee along with Beergrita, which like its name is a mix of beer and margarita. The bar menu is extensive, featuring cocktails made from beer, single malts, whiskies from across the globe, vodkas, tequilas, wines and much more. We were transported to a culinary haven with dishes like Peri Peri Chicken Wings, Stuffed Zucchini and KhowSuey that were perfectly paired with the beers.
ED’s verdict
Those who love to hook up with the occasional beer, spending a boozy afternoon or evening at Kaitlyn’s Beer Garden should be on your list. This down-to-earth alternative to fancy lounges is perfect to soak into suds. The munchies menu prepares for a delectable base for the casual drinkers coming back to rustic indoor space.
