After visiting Hong Kong, Jakarta, Tokyo, Singapore and Thailand, Essential Eames “pocket edition” design exhibition has now travelled to India with the help of renowned furniture manufacturer Herman Miller. A design oriented event, it elaborates on how ideas and creations can become immortal and influence contemporary life. Eames Demetrios, the grandson of the famous designer couple Charles and Ray Eames and director of the Eames Office, has curated the entire event. Based on his book The Eames Primer, the showcase traces the life and work of his celebrated grandparents. The rare images, sketches and design pieces were on display on December 2, 2015 in Delhi, at Hotel Vasant Continental in Vasant Vihar and the show has now moved to Bengaluru. “These chairs are not only iconic but also some of the most comfortable,” said Eames. “Over the years, the company keeps adapting to new materials and technology changes without hampering the original vision of Charles and Ray Eames.”
