First time in India: Italian brands that we are excited about this year

We’ve said it, you know it—wallpapers and textiles lend a character to interiors as few other decor additions can. And this month, we are being treated to not one but two brands that are bringing a European touch to India. The Italian Trade Commission is launching wallpaper manufacturer Texturae Srl and Karpeta Srl, known for handmade carpets. On September 17 in New Delhi, these enterprises will be showcasing their respective ranges to a discerning few. Well, here’s what we know about the brands. Texturae’s designer wallpapers feature a futuristic appeal that promises to teleport you to different worlds. Part of its eco-conscious collection are wallpapers crafted on latex, fibreglass and cellulose with designs made using water-based inks. These versatile wallcoverings from Texturae—that’s known for collaborating with Roche Bobois, Starbucks, Arflex and Devon&Devon—are perfect for use in all kinds of spaces within homes, offices, hotels and hospitals, lending a personal touch to your interiors. On the other hand, Karpeta’s mission is to synergise the past and the present by incorporating contemporary aesthetics and archaic techniques. The result is the creation of unique, hand-knotted carpets. This Made in Italy company is known for its use of high-quality natural fibres and rare handmade techniques, making their products an inimitable confluence of art and production. Karpeta will be introducing a number of collections. While the Trame line features strong contrasts, hypnotic mesh patterns and neat colours, Raw looks like a tapestry or a modern art painting at first glance. For Raw, inspiration is drawn from lunar landscapes, dotted lines and unexpected overlays of nuances. The Printed series by Studiocharlie & Silvia Destito uses hand-sculpted wooden boards. Graphic elements, abstract geometries, colour stains to create patterns and finally, an analysis of emotions is incepted in the Nodi range by Rosemarie Auberson, Valentina Cameranesi, Casalinghe di Tokyo and José Mendoza.
