Ever wondered what living in a spacecraft would be like? We discovered a hotel that could give you a taste of it, while still being grounded on planet earth.
Located in Mumbai, Urbanpod is a “smart hotel” that claims to be the first of its kind in the country. Here, instead conventional rooms, residents are designated futuristic “pods”. Designed by Singapore based architecture firm Formwerkz, the entire space is divided into several sections based on the amenities they offer – classic pods, private pods, suites as well as a segment exclusively for women.
Each soundproof cocoon is equipped with basic facilities like a bed, television, personal locker, adjustable lights, dresser and a simple shutter that can be drawn to close your pod. All guests share a common bathroom and cafe. The eatery serves breakfast to residents as well as snacks and beverages throughout the day.
The contemporary dorm service would be ideal for city travellers and backpackers looking for a novel yet affordable experience.
