Redoing your patio can be cheap, time saving and fun with these cute curios and clever containers.

For your plants and herbs, give terracotta a miss. Instead, recycle old rubber tyres with a fresh coat of white paint to make trendy holders. Tuck in flowers of your choice – daisies, roses, marigolds or orchids– and suspend over sturdy branches or from the grills of your high-rise balcony.

If you have old ceramic bowls and broken cooking pots lying around, don’t throw them away.  Shift these from the kitchen to the porch and place tiny shrubberies like wheatgrass to incorporate an innovative alfresco element all year long.

Finish the setting with dainty accents in bold hues – metal birdhouses, hanging lanterns, colourful gardening tools and an Eden garden inspired white bicycle can make for a picture-perfect Instagram post.
